Frequently Asked Questions
Does the amount of support coordination funding I get depend on the type of disability I have?
No. The NDIS looks at lots of factors when they assess how much support coordination funding you need. Whilst they do look at the type of disability you have, they also look at your informal support network, like your friends and family, who are there to support you when navigating the NDIS.
Is there a limit on how long I can have support coordination?
No. Provided you meet the eligibility criteria, there is no limit on how many times you can have support coordination included in your NDIS plan. It’s important to note that any and every time you request support coordination, you should present as much evidence as you can (e.g., a letter from a GP or an occupational therapist report), as this can help to show the NDIS the benefit it can provide you.
Will my support coordinator handle everything for me?
No. You still have control over your NDIS journey, including what services are delivered and when. Rather than doing everything for you, a support coordinator helps you build your skills and confidence so that you can eventually coordinate your supports yourself, or with the assistance of your informal support network.
